The Indian hockey team lost the series against the world champion Germany by just 2 matches. The winner was decided by a shootout. In which India lost 1-3.
On Thursday, India won the second match 5-3 thanks to 2 goals each from captain Harmanpreet Singh and Sukhjit Singh. Team India's win leveled the series at 1–1, as Germany won the first match 2–0.
In the second test at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, Elian Majkoor scored two goals (in the 7th and 57th minutes) and Henrik Mertjens scored a goal in the 60th minute for Germany. At the same time, Sukhjit Singh (34th and 48th minutes), captain Harmanpreet Singh (42nd and 43rd) and Abhishek (45th minute) scored goals for the Indian team in the second half.
