Congress won't contest bypolls in UP: SP announces candidates for all 9 seats; Akhilesh shared a photo holding Rahul's hand

Congress will not contest assembly by-elections in Uttar Pradesh. State party in-charge Avinash Pandey made this announcement on Thursday. He said, 'Congress will support the Bharat Alliance in the by-elections.' After this, SP also announced the names of its candidates for Ghaziabad and Kher seats. Candidates for 7 seats have already been decided.

By-elections are to be held on 9 assembly seats in the state on November 13. The result will come on November 23.

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav said at 11.11 pm on Wednesday, on Thursday morning, Akhilesh also shared a photo holding Rahul's hand.

The Congress had earlier demanded to contest on 5 seats, but the SP agreed to give 2 seats, Kher from Aligarh and Sadar from Ghaziabad.

However, given the political equations in these seats, the Congress victory was not easy. After this, Congress has claimed Phulpur seat of Prayagraj and Mazwan seat of Mirzapur, but no final consensus could be reached.
