Shinde faction's Shiv Sena announced the first list of 45 candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections late on Tuesday. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will contest from Kopri Pachapkhadi. While Minister Uday Samant has been given ticket from Ratnagiri.
Shiv Sena has nominated Sadanand Shankar Saravankar from Mahim seat. On this seat, he will face Amit Thackeray, son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray. Mahayuti has announced 144 names so far. In which 99 names of BJP and 45 names of Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) are included.
On October 20, the BJP announced the first list of 99 candidates. In which 79 current MLAs have got tickets again. All 10 ministers and Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar will also contest the elections. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will contest from south-west Nagpur, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule from Kamathi.
Maharashtra will go to polls on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23. The term of Maharashtra Assembly ends on 26 November 2024. In Maharashtra, there is a coalition government of Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP Ajit Pawar group. The division of votes between the anti-incumbency and the big six parties will be a major challenge for the Sadhana Party.
Mahayuti released its manifesto on October 16.
The first election will be contested under Shinde's leadership CM Eknath Shinde revolted against the then Uddhav government in June 2022. He became the Chief Minister with the support of BJP. In such a situation, this is the first assembly election under the leadership of Shinde.
Chimanrao Patil, sitting MLA from Arendol seat in Jalgaon, has not been given a chance. Amol Chimanrao Patil has been nominated in his place. At the same time, Abhijeet Adasul has been fielded as a candidate from Daryapur assembly seat in Amravati. Anandrao Adsul is a former Shiv Sena MP. However, earlier there was talk that BJP's Navneet Rana would contest the assembly elections from here.
Two brothers in the field: Minister Uday Samant has been nominated from Ratnagiri, while his brother Kiran Samant has been nominated from Rajapur. Meanwhile, Suhas Babar, son of late Sena MLA Anil Babar, has been announced as a candidate from Khanpur.
Tickets to two leaders who lost the Lok Sabha elections in the BJP list BJP has canceled the tickets of 5 MLAs. There is no Muslim candidate's name in the list. BJP has again given tickets to 14 out of 16 MLAs in Mumbai. Three independent MLAs who supported the BJP in 2019 have also got tickets.
Sudhir Mungantiwar, the two leaders who lost the Lok Sabha elections in May, have got tickets from Ballarpur assembly seat and Mihir Kotecha from Mulund seat. Apart from this, Mumbai BJP President Ashish Shelar has got ticket from Bandra West and his brother Vinod Shelar from Malad West.
