Naidu said- People should give birth to more children: those who have more than 2 children can contest elections; Andhra has the lowest birth rate, leaving only the elderly in many districts

According to the Center's Youth in India-2022 report, the age of 25 crore youth in the country is between 15 and 25 years. It will decline even faster in the next 15 years.

Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to the people of southern states to give birth to more children. Naidu said that a family should have at least two or more children. In future, only people with two or more children will be able to contest elections to local bodies. The state government will soon make a law for this.

Naidu further said that there are many districts in Andhra Pradesh where only the elderly remain in the villages. Fertility rates continue to decline in southern states. The average fertility rate in the country is 2.1, while the figure has fallen to 1.6 in the southern states.

India is aging, the youth population is declining, a topic of discussion According to the Centre's Youth in India-2022 report, by 2036 the country's population will comprise only 34.55 crore youth, up from 47% at present. Currently there are 25 crore youth between 15 to 25 years of age in the country. It will decline rapidly in the next 15 years.

By 2036, more than 12% of the population will be elderly According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) India Aging Report 2023, the median age of the youth population in India was 24 years in 2011, which has now increased to 29 years. India's elderly population will increase to 12.5% by 2036, 19.4% by 2050 and 36% by the end of the century.

What is the fertility rate? According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5), on an average every woman in India gives birth to two or more children. However, many of these children die by the age of 18. Also, some women are not able to give birth to a child.

At the present national level fertility rate of 2.1 is not a matter of concern. This indicates that one generation can replace another generation. If a country's total fertility rate (TFR- Total Fertility Rate) falls below 2.1 for a long period of time, it usually indicates a population decline.

India's population will be 152 crores in 2036

In the year 2036, India's population may reach 152.2 crore. A report on this was released on August 12.

It was reported that the sex ratio is expected to reach 952 females per 1000 males by 2036. The figure was 943 in the 2011 census.

The report also said that the percentage of women in the population could also see some improvement. The percentage of women is expected to increase to 48.8% in the year 2036. In 2011 it was 48.5%.

Due to declining fertility rates, the proportion of people under the age of 15 is expected to decrease in 2036 compared to 2011. During this time, the proportion of the population aged 60 and over will increase rapidly.

UN report- India's population doubled in 77 years The United Nations (UN) health agency United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) claimed in a report in April 2024 that India's population has doubled in the last 77 years. It has reached 144.17 crores.
