Toxic foam was seen in the Yamuna river in Kalindi Kunj area of Delhi on Sunday.
For the third day in a row, toxic foam was seen in the Yamuna river in Delhi on Sunday morning. AAP issued a statement saying- BJP is releasing sewage from UP into Yamuna, due to which Delhi water is foaming. On one hand, AAP is busy tackling pollution in Delhi on a war footing. On the other hand BJP is doing dirty politics.
In response to that, BJP MP from East Delhi Harsh Malhotra said – AAP government collected Rs 1,000 crore as pollution tax. Atishi should tell what happened to that fund.
When Yamuna water reaches Delhi, its oxygen level remains at 9. When one leaves Delhi the oxygen level drops to 0. Drainage plants at different drainage points of Delhi are not working.

3 accusations of BJP
- The Arvind Kejriwal government has only spread lies and illusions regarding the cleaning of Yamuna. When the Lieutenant Governor took steps to clean the Yamuna, the Kejriwal government moved the Supreme Court to stop them.
- Kejriwal said that by 2025, the Yamuna river will be completely cleaned. When people celebrate the festival of Chhath Puja in the water of Yamuna river, what diseases will they face?
- All the money raised for cleaning the Yamuna was spent on advertising. Cleaning the Yamuna river has always been a political issue for AAP, not a priority. Toxic politics is the cause of Delhi's toxic air and water.
AAP's answer – UP-Haryana responsible for pollution
Responding to BJP's allegations, AAP leader Reena Gupta said- the issues of water pollution and air pollution cross administrative boundaries. Haryana has seen a 30 percent increase in stubble incidence and Uttar Pradesh has seen a 70 percent increase. Dust burning incidents have reduced by 30 percent in Punjab.
There are airsheds within a radius of about 300 km of Delhi. The Supreme Court has said several times that all state governments need to work together to resolve this issue. However, only AAP governments in Delhi and Punjab are actively working with it.
Delhi Government's action on foam The Delhi Water Board held a meeting on October 18 regarding foaming in the Yamuna river in Delhi. It was discussed that there should be no foam during Chhath Puja. In fact, every year hundreds of devotees come to Okhla's Kalindi Kunj barrage to bathe in the river during Chhath Puja.
An official who attended the meeting said that portable anti-surfactant sprinklers will be installed downstream of the Okhla barrage before and during Chhath Puja. Along with this, river and canal cleaning work will also be done in Kalindi Kunj.
