National Testing Agency (NTA) has changed the pattern of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains 2025. Optional questions have been removed in Section B of the paper. Now only five questions will be given, solving all of them will be compulsory. Earlier 10 questions were given out of which five questions were to be solved. NTA issued the notification on the official website on Thursday (October 17).
Why did the pattern change? The NTA said the optional questions were introduced in the examination to reduce the pressure on students during the Covid-19 pandemic. It was launched in 2021 and will run until 2024. Now we are changing its pattern from next year.
Change in 3 Papers of Section B Section B of JEE Mains 2025 will have only five compulsory questions from each subject in Paper 1 (BE/B. Tech), Paper 2A (B. Arch), and Paper 2B (B. Planning). Candidates have to attempt all the five questions without any option.
JEE Mains registration will start soon The NTA further said that the application process for the first phase of JEE Mains 2025 will start soon. The details will be announced on the Website. More information about exam pattern will be given after the start of registration process.
How will the exam pattern be now? JEE Mains, the national level entrance exam for admission to engineering courses consists of three papers. It includes Physics, Chemistry and Maths. There are a total of 90 questions in the three-hour exam. Each person has 30-30 questions.
Paper A consists of 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) in each subject, while Paper B consists of 10 numerical questions. Now under the new pattern Section B will be reduced from 10 to 5 questions and all questions will be compulsory.
A change in pattern will lower the cutoff It will be more difficult than before for the candidates to score as there are no more options in the JEE Mains entrance exam question paper. This will definitely lower the qualifying cutoff.
