Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe has been suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for disciplinary reasons. He has been suspended for 48 hours and will be dismissed immediately after this period.
The board has also issued a show cause notice to him. The board has appointed Phil Simmons as the interim coach till Champions Trophy 2025.

Bangladesh lost the Test and T20 series against India The Bangladesh board's decision comes at a time when the team had to lose both the T20 and Test series on their tour of India. Bangladesh came into the tour of India after defeating Pakistan in the two-match Test series at home. In India, Bangladesh lost 2-0 in the Test series and then 3-0 in the T-20 series.
Hathurusingh took over the post last year Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Hathurusinghe was appointed Bangladesh coach in February last year. His tenure was till the 2025 Champions Trophy. Under the leadership of 56-year-old Hathurusinghe, Bangladesh fared abysmally during last year's ODI World Cup and this year's T20 World Cup. Hathurusinghe's best achievement this year was Bangladesh's 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan.
Simmons was the head coach of several teams Former West Indies batting-all-rounder Simmons has recently started coaching with his West Indies team. Before this he was the head coach of Zimbabwe from 2004-2005, Ireland from 2007-2015, West Indies from 2015-2016, Afghanistan from 2017-2019 and West Indies from 2019-2022. Simmons played 26 Tests and 143 ODIs in his international career. He scored 1,002 runs in his Test career. He scored 3,675 runs in ODIs.
