NCP Ajit Pawar faction leader and Maharashtra government minister Baba Siddiqui has been shot dead in Mumbai. He was born on September 13, 1958 in Patna. His full name was Baba Ziauddin Siddiqui.
As a child, he worked as a watch repairer with his father, Abdul Rahim Siddiqui. Baba's wife's name is Shahzeem Siddiqui. They have two children. Daughter Arshia Siddiqui is a doctor while son Jeeshan Siddiqui is a Congress MLA.
Baba Siddiqui also has a close relationship with Bollywood stars. Many film stars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia have been attending their Iftar parties during Ramadan. It was during one such party in 2013 that the 5-year-old feud between Salman and Shah Rukh came to an end.

In the early days of politics, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt introduced Baba to Salman.
Baba Siddiqui also has close relations with Salman's family.

Baba started his political career from Congress. He joined NSUI, the student wing of the party, in 1977. After this he became General Secretary of Bandra Youth Congress in 1980, President of Bandra Youth Congress in 1982 and President of Mumbai Youth Congress in 1988.
In the year 1999, Baba became MLA from Bandra West seat for the first time on a Congress ticket. After this, he became an MLA from this seat for three consecutive terms till 2014. Baba was also the Minister of State for Food and Labor from 2004 to 2008.
However, he lost the election in 2014. In the same year, he was made the President of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee and in 2019, he was inducted into the Parliamentary Board of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee. In February 2024, he left the Congress to join Ajit Pawar's NCP.
In his resignation letter on social media, he wrote-
I joined Congress as a youth and it was an important journey of 48 years. Today I am resigning from the primary membership of Congress with immediate effect.
