On June 28, a message about the Pradhan Mantri Kisan app was received on the WhatsApp of a young man in Khedapa, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. A link was also attached with the message, when the young man clicked on this link, his mobile was immediately hacked. In no time, 2 lakh 75 thousand rupees were deducted from the bank account of the young man.
The victim immediately complained about this to the cyber cell of the Jodhpur rural police. The police immediately took action and froze the hackers' bank accounts and recovered the cash. After this, the police returned Rs 1 lakh 57 thousand 100 to the victim through the court.
Another such case has come to light from Shergarh Tehsil area of Jodhpur. Where a young man received a message on his mobile, which said 'Click here to join Central Government's Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.' As soon as the link was clicked, a suspicious app was downloaded on the mobile. After some time, 41 thousand 200 rupees were withdrawn from the bank account of the young man. The youth immediately informed the police about this. The police swung into action and recovered Rs 41,200 from the hacker's bank account on September 12.
In the last few years, the incidence of cybercrime in Rajasthan has increased rapidly. According to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, cyber fraud worth Rs 165 crore was committed in the last 3 years, of which the police froze Rs 61 crore and returned Rs 9 crore to the victims.
