Electric vehicle manufacturing company Tesla on Friday unveiled its first robotaxi 'Cybercab'. The CEO of the company, Elon Musk, presented it at the 'V-Robot' event held in California, USA.
Equipped with autonomous (self-driving) driving, the CyberCab offers many AI features. Apart from this the company introduced another autonomous vehicle Robovan which is capable of carrying 20 people.
Elon Musk announced that the upcoming autonomous CyberCab will be available for less than $30,000, with production expected to begin in 2026. The car is based on the company's Model 3 sedan, which has a current starting price of $42,000.
Production will begin in 2026 Musk said that production will begin in 2026 and the CyberCab can be purchased for less than $30,000 (roughly Rs. 25.18 lakh). He said the first autonomous driving will start on the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, and in the future people will be able to earn money from ridesharing by owning multiple such cars. Talking about CyberCab's technology, he said it uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and vision.
A good solution can be brought at a low cost
Elon Musk hopes that he will be able to bring a better solution with this robotaxis at a lower cost. Apart from this, the big thing is that in order to control the price, the company has decided to stay away from sensors other than the camera.
