Big blow to India before Australia tour: Captain Rohit Sharma may miss Test match due to personal reasons; If not, who will captain?

India's Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma may be out of the first Test in Australia. He has informed the BCCI that it is difficult for him to play in either of the first two Tests due to personal reasons. He will play all the matches if personal matters are resolved before the start of the series.

The 5-Test Border Gavaskar Series between Australia and India is scheduled to begin on November 22. The first match is to be played in Perth. Led by Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, India won the last 2 Test series in Australia.

BCCI already informed According to news agency PTI, BCCI sources said that Rohit has already informed the board about his personal problem. Rohit has said that he could be out of either of the first two Tests. He will play the entire series if the problem is resolved.

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India defeated England and Bangladesh in the Test series this year.

The second test will start from December 6 Team India is going to play a Test series in Australia after 3 years. The first match will be played in Perth from November 22 and the second match in Adelaide from December 6. Before this, the team will also play a 3 test match series against New Zealand in India from October 16. Team India has not lost a Test series against Australia since 2014. Meanwhile, the team won 2 series under the leadership of Virat Kohli.

So who will be the captain…? During the Test series against Bangladesh, Team India's assistant coach Abhishek Nair said, 'The team has some IPL captains in the form of Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. There are certainly youngsters of all ages, but given the number of matches they all have played, it would be silly to call them young. Everyone has leadership qualities, so there's no need to think too much about the vice-captain of the team right now.'

Who will open instead of Rohit? The team has two backup openers in the form of Shubman Gill and KL Rahul if Rohit is unable to play the opening match. Apart from this, Abhimanyu Iswaran, who performed well in domestic cricket, will also stay in Australia with the India-A team during that period.

Any one of the three can take over the opening position in Rohit's place. Apart from this, India also gave Devdutt Padikal and Rajat Patidar a chance to make their Test debut this year. Both these players can also handle the opening position.

Shubman Gill can open and captain Australia in Rohit's absence.

Rohit has captained 18 Tests so far After Virat Kohli left the captaincy, Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy in the Test format in 2022. So far he has captained 18 Tests and won 12 matches. The team lost only four, while 2 matches were drawn.
