Zeenat blows chalam to make scene real: Mata scolds team members, Dev Anand suggests

Zeenat Aman got a distinct identity in the industry with the song 'Dum Maro Dum' from Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman's film 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna'. Zeenat was shown playing the chalam in this song. Usually stars act drunk for such shoots, but Zeenat was really drunk for this song. The actress herself has revealed this. He said, 'When my mother came to know about this, she was furious.'

The actress has shared this story on social media Indeed, Zeenat Aman shared a photo of the song 'Dum Maro Dum' on Instagram. In the caption of which he has narrated a story related to this song. Zeenat wrote, 'We were shooting for 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' in Kathmandu. Dev Sahib collected a group of hippies from the streets for the song 'Dum Maro Dum'. Hippies were also excited to do this because they were getting a chance to smoke chalam with ganja in Nepal. Another was getting free food for working in a Bollywood film. Apart from this, they were also getting money for this.

I actually blew the chalam for the song Zeenat said, 'Dev Anand wanted to make this scene completely realistic. They had to make my character Janice look really drunk. The easiest way to do this was to get drunk with hippies. I was a teenager at that time. For this song I took continuous long puffs from Chalam. In such a situation, by the time we finished shooting, I was already drunk. I was not in a position to go to a hotel, so some of the team took me to a beautiful place. Where I felt better and then gradually I regained consciousness.

The mother scolded the senior crew members Zeenat continued, 'When my mother came to know about this, she was very angry. He also reprimanded senior crew members. Though I was lucky to escape his wrath. Well, what can I say, it was the 70s, and I was a flower child.'

Zeenat was not the first choice for this filmNotably, the film 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' was released in 1971. The film was directed by Dev Anand himself. He also worked as a lead actor. The film proved to be the biggest hit of its time. It is said that not Zeenat Aman but actress Zahida Hussain was the first choice for this film. According to media reports, Zahida wanted to be Dev Anand's girlfriend in the film and not his sister, who was Mumtaz.
