Central Govt's Big Step Against Cyber ​​Fraud: Govt Blocks 6 Lakh Phones, 800 Apps & 65 Thousand URLs, Freezes 3.25 Lakh Debit Accounts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that cyber crime is a matter of global concern on Monday during his visit to America. Yesterday on Tuesday, the central government has taken a huge step against cyber fraud by shutting down 6 lakh mobile phones. The Union Home Ministry has also blocked 65 thousand Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) of cyber fraudsters and around 800 applications of cyber frauds.

The National Cyber ​​Crime Report (NCRP) received more than 1 lakh investment scam complaints in 2023. 17 thousand police complaints of this type of fraud were also registered across the country. From January 24 to September 24, 6000 complaints of digital arrest, 20,043 of trading scams, 62,687 of investment scams and 1725 of dating scams were received.

In order to curb the increasing cases of cyber fraud, Cyber ​​Wing has frozen 3.25 lakh debit accounts of fraudsters in the last 4 months. Similarly, 3401 social media, websites, WhatsApp groups used in committing cyber crimes have also been closed. In the last few years, 8.50 lakh cyber victims have been saved from being cheated along with saving Rs 2800 crore from cyber fraud. It may be mentioned that citizens can file online complaints against cyber crimes on the National Cyber ​​Crime Reporting Portal.
