Nursing student gang-raped in Tamil Nadu: Accused kidnapped; After the rape, they left near the Dindigul railway station and ran away

After Kolkata, now another case of rape of a health care worker has come to light in Tamil Nadu. A nursing student from Theni has been gang-raped in Dindigul of the state. Police said that the victim was abducted by unknown persons.

This was followed by a gang-rape. Then they left him near Dindigul railway station and ran away. The injured victim sought police help at the railway station. The victim has been admitted to Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Dindigul district SP Pradeep said an FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway.

On August 9, a trainee doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata

A trainee doctor was raped and murdered on August 9 at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. The body of the trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of the hospital. On August 10, the police arrested a civilian volunteer named Sanjay Roy on charges of rape-murder. He is currently in CBI custody.

In protest of this incident, junior doctors from across the country, including Bengal, went on strike. However, on 22 August, on instructions from the Supreme Court, doctors in all states except Bengal called off the strike.

Junior doctors in Bengal returned to duty on September 21 after a 42-day strike. The CBI had on September 14 arrested former medical college principal Sandeep Ghosh and police station SHO Abhijit Mandal on charges of tampering with evidence in the rape-murder case.
