Govinda met Sunita at his sister's wedding: He said – I was in 9th then, I took up the challenge to impress her.

Govinda's wife Sunita said that her sister was married to Govinda's maternal uncle and it was at this wedding that she saw Govinda for the first time. At this time she was in 9th standard and Govinda was in final year of B.COM that year.

In an interview to Timeout with Ankit Podcast, Sunita said, 'My sister was married to Govinda's maternal uncle Anand Singh. It was at this wedding that I saw him for the first time. Mara Banavi said that Govinda is a very simple man, who loves his mother very much.

The brothers-in-law also said that no girl could impress Govinda. I thought what is it that a girl can't impress this boy. I told my sister in law that I can. Then he challenged me to do so.

Sunita-Govinda's affair started on this day It was Anand who offered Govinda his first film 'Taan Badan'. He also offered Sunita the lead actress role in the film, but she declined. After this Khushboo Sundar was cast in this role.

About this incident, Sunita said, 'On the day of the film's muhurta, I, my brother and Govinda were going in a car. Brother was sitting between us. When I put my hand on the headrest I saw Govinda's hand there too. I realized he was trying to touch me. Then this is how our affair started.'

Sunita got married at the age of 18 Sunita said that she and Govinda dated for 3 years before marriage. Sunita said, 'I got married at 18 and became a mother at 19.'
