Powerful storm Babinka threatens Shanghai, China: deadliest in 75 years, cancels hundreds of flights; Second storm in China in 15 days

There is a threat of storm in China for the second time in 15 days. This time a powerful Babinka storm is about to hit. Babinka may be the most powerful typhoon to hit Shanghai in the last 75 years (since 1949). Currently it is present in the East China Sea, 400 km from Shanghai.

The storm has sustained winds of 144 km/h, which could reach 155 km/h late Sunday night. It has been categorized as a powerful hurricane category 1. China has canceled hundreds of flights as it prepares to deal with the storm. The typhoon is expected to hit the coast of Shanghai late Monday night.

About 10,000 people have been safely evacuated from Shanghai so far. Cyclone Babinka can cause 254 mm of rain.

The most impact of the storm will be seen in the eastern part of China.

The administration has started preparations to meet the storm The Shanghai administration has already started taking necessary measures to deal with the storm. The Chinese Meteorological Department has declared a red alert in Shanghai. Rail services in Shanghai will be suspended for a few hours on Monday. Public transport and markets have been closed.

Typhoon Muifah last hit Shanghai in 2022. It originated at a distance of 300 km from the Zhejiang province of China. Apart from this, China has asked all ships that are away from Shanghai to come to the port. In addition to Shanghai, ships from the neighboring province of Zhejiang have been recalled.

Many flights in Zhejiang have also been affected.

Typhoon Yagi hit China on September 9 Super typhoon Yagi, originating from the South China Sea, hit the southern coast of China on September 9. It struck China's Henan province. The typhoon forced 400,000 people from Hainan to leave their homes. It was traveling at around 250 kmph when it hit the coast of China.

It was the second most powerful storm after China and moved towards Vietnam, where it caused great destruction. Due to the typhoon, Vietnam faced heavy rains and floods. Due to which more than 200 people lost their lives. There are more than 100 people missing.

Injured people were taken to hospital after floods and landslides in Vietnam.

In 1949, Typhoon Gloria hit Shanghai The most powerful typhoon ever to hit Shanghai was Gloria, which hit in 1949. At that time, due to this storm, the wind was blowing at a speed of 144 km per hour.
