Neeraj Chopra, who missed the title by just one centimeter: finished second in the Diamond League final, throwing a best throw of 87.86m; Andersen Peters of Granada took first place

Neeraj Chopra finished second in the 2024 Diamond League Finals. He threw a best throw of 87.86 meters in the third attempt. He was 0.01 meters away from becoming the champion. Andersen Peters of Granada finished first with a best throw of 87.87 meters in the first attempt.

Neeraj threw 86.82 meters in the first attempt. Germany's Julian Weber finished third with a best throw of 85.97m. 7 javelin throwers participated in the final. Out of which 4 throwers could not even throw 83 meters.

The Diamond League Finals were held on 13 and 14 September at the King Bowdoin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium. India's Avinash Sable finished 9th in the 3000m steeplechase event on Friday.

Neeraj threw his best throw in the third attempt The javelin competition started at 11:52 pm on Saturday. Neeraj Chopra threw 86.82 meters in the first attempt, which took him to second place. Andersen Peters of Granada finished first with a throw of 87.87m. Germany's Julian Weber finished third with a throw of 85.97m.

Neeraj won silver in Paris Olympics Neeraj Chopra won a silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games that ended last month. He had a season's best throw of 89.45 meters. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal with a throw of 92.97 meters. However, he was not part of the Diamond League.

Neeraj won a gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Then Arshad Nadeem also could not get a place in the top-5 players. Neerj won the Diamond League final in 2022, he finished second in 2023.

Kenya's Amos Serem took first place and Morocco's Paris Olympic champion Sofiane El Bakkali took second place.

It includes athletic events such as javelin throw, high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, sprint, hurdles, steeplechase, discus throw and shot put. 4 qualifying events are held throughout the year in different countries of the world. The top ranked athletes play in the Diamond League Finals in September. The player who wins the final is considered the Diamond League champion.
