Army withdrawal on LAC 75% complete: Will meet China's foreign minister today, says Jaishankar, 2020 ties deteriorate after Galwan clash

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said on Thursday (September 12) that the border dispute with China has been resolved to some extent. The proximity of the armies of the two countries to each other along the border is a major issue. He also said that India-China relations could improve if the border dispute is resolved. Jaishankar to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Today is the last day of Jaishankar's two-day visit to Switzerland. Meanwhile, he will also meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Bilateral relations between India and China are at an all-time low. Since 2020, the armies of both the countries are facing each other in Ladakh. However, the withdrawal of forces began in February 2021, which is still ongoing. Speaking at the Geneva Center for Security Policy, Jaishankar described peace as important for withdrawal of troops from the border and normalization of relations between the two countries. The meeting strengthened the efforts of both the countries to speedily resolve border related issues. Both countries agreed to withdraw troops from the remaining areas as soon as possible. NSA Doval emphasized that the two countries should fully comply with bilateral agreements, protocols and mutual understanding. What happened in Galwan Valley? ​​​​​​​On 15 June 2020, China deployed troops in the border areas of eastern Ladakh under the pretext of an exercise. After this incidents of infiltration took place in many places. The Indian government also deployed the same number of troops as China in the area. The situation became so bad that bullets were fired at the LAC. Meanwhile, on June 15, 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in a clash with the Chinese army in the Galwan Valley. Later, India also gave a jaw-dropping response to this. About 60 Chinese soldiers were killed.
