Bavo spoke for 25 years, not twelve!: Pakistan admits its role in Kargil war for the first time, army chief says – thousands of people sacrificed

For the first time, Pakistan Army has accepted its role in the Kargil war. 25 years after the war in 1999, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir admitted during an event that the Pakistan Army was involved in the Kargil war. According to media reports, at an event organized to honor the people of Pakistan who died in the war against India, Munir said, “The Pakistani community is a community of brave people who know how to pay the price for freedom. Be it the war of 1948, the Kargil war of 1965, 1971 or 1999, thousands of soldiers Sacrifice for Islam and country.” The Pakistani Army Chief gave this statement on September 6, which is going viral on social media. This is the first time that a Pakistani army officer has spoken about the martyrdom of Pakistani soldiers in the war. Until now, Pakistan has been claiming that the Kargil war was started by the Mujahideen of Kashmir. Pakistan had no role in it. At the same time, India continues to allege that the Kargil war was a well-planned conspiracy by Pakistan to change the LoC (Line of Control) and occupy Kashmir. Pakistan Army Builds Base on Kargil Hills The war in Kargil began when Pakistani troops quietly occupied the high hills here and built their base. On May 8, 1999, the Azam outpost in Kargil was occupied by about 12 Pakistani soldiers. These Pakistani soldiers were seen by an Indian cowherd. This cowherd informed the Indian army personnel about the infiltration of Pakistani soldiers. This is how India first got the information about the infiltration. By now India was realizing that only a few terrorists had occupied the Kashmir Valley, so India sent only a few troops to drive them out. This was revealed to be part of a larger conspiracy when the Indian Army was retaliated from different locations. India's then Defense Minister George Fernandes canceled his visit to Russia. Indian Army has started preparations for Operation Vijay. The Pakistani soldiers were sitting on the hills due to which the Indian soldiers had to face many difficulties. Indian soldiers made difficult climbs at night to avoid enemy sight. In the beginning, the Indian army had to bear heavy losses due to this. Air Force and Navy also played a major role in this war, with Indian MiG-29 and Mirage 2000 bombing Pakistani troops. The Air Force bombarded Pakistani troops with MiG-29 and Mirage-2000 aircraft. During this period, Pakistan shot down two of our fighter planes, while one crashed. Navy launched Operation Sword. Under this, passage to several ports of Pakistan, including Karachi, was blocked, so that it could not supply the fuel needed for the Kargil war. Apart from this, India also blocked Pakistan's sea trade route by bringing its fleet into the Arabian Sea. Bofors guns changed the trend A turning point in the war came when India decided to field the Bofors guns on the battlefield. Air force attacks from the sky and heavy Bofors gun fire from the ground forced the Pakistani troops to flee. A fierce war raged between the two countries for about 2 months. 527 Indian soldiers were martyred in this war and around 3000 Pakistani soldiers were also killed. However, Pakistan claims to have killed only 357 soldiers. Finally, on 26 July 1999, India captured the last peak of Kargil. Pakistan was defeated in the war.
