Malayalam actors Mukesh and Babu get bail in rape case: Kerala court says – If there was rape, money would not have been demanded

A Kerala court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to Malayalam actor and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Mukesh and actor and former Malayalam Movie Artistes Association office bearer Idavela Babu. Actress Minoo Munir filed a case against both of them accusing them of rape. Mukesh and Babu then approached the Ernakulam Sessions Court with separate applications for anticipatory bail, where Judge Honey. M. Varghese informed him of the decision to grant anticipatory bail. The judge said- there is a difference between rape and mutual consent. The court observed that the complainant asked Mukesh to pay his child's school fees and the latter also demanded Rs 1 lakh. If it was a case of rape, money would not have been demanded. Both the actors said – We were blackmailed. Earlier, both Mukesh and Babu claimed in the court that Minoo made such allegations against them to blackmail them. Mukesh claimed his innocence and said that this complaint against him It was done with the evil intention of ruining his career as both a politician and an actor. Mukesh said- the actress demanded 1 lakh rupees Mukesh also shared the screenshot of the message sent to him by the actress in the court in which the actress demanded 1 lakh rupees from him. Babu said in his petition that a conspiracy has been hatched to spoil the status of some actors in the industry. This complaint is part of the same conspiracy. Both said in their petition that the complaint has been filed 15 years after the alleged incident. After this, both the actors sought anticipatory bail, assuring the court to cooperate with the probe. Minoo accused 7 people including Mukesh-Babu, Justice K. After the publication of the Hema Committee report, serious allegations were made against 7 actors associated with the Malayalam film industry. The actress first accused all of them of physically abusing her on the sets of the film through a Facebook post and later filed a written complaint with the Kerala Police. After this, the Kerala Police has registered a case against 7 people including the 67-year-old actor and South actor Jayasuriya in this matter. The case will be investigated by the SIT (Special Investigation Team), which has been formed to investigate cases of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry. The Hema Committee report comes out after 5 years In February 2017, an actress from the Malayalam film industry was sexually harassed in a moving car. Actor Dileep's name came up behind the incident, after which many people started raising their voices on the mistreatment of women in the Malayalam film industry. After this incident, the government formed the Hema Committee. The committee submitted its report to the government in December 2019, which is now out after 5 years. The report has revealed many shocking revelations, which have shaken the Malayalam film industry.
