Bhaskar Khas: Tourism industry to contribute record Rs 924 lakh crore to global GDP in 2024, up 7.5% from pre-Covid

The tourism sector is gaining rapid momentum for the last two-three years after the corona epidemic at the global level. For every $10 spent around the world this year, $1 will be spent on travel. People will spend on booking hotels, cruises and flights. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has shown in its report. According to the report, the travel industry's contribution to world GDP this year is expected to increase by 12.1% year-on-year to a record of around Rs 924 lakh crore. Which will be 10% of world GDP. Pre-Covid levels will be 7.5% higher than the old record in 2019. According to the report, people are considering travel as an important element of their lifestyle and budget, which is a positive sign for the industry. Leisure travel i.e. travel during holidays has increased rapidly in the country. This is due to increasing disposable income and easy international travel. According to a report by travel booking platform McMyTrip, the number of Indians traveling abroad more than twice a year has increased by 32%. The number of people traveling abroad has more than tripled, increasing by 37%. The growing crash of outbound cruise travel, Gujarat's 40% share in the country Tourism industries have been continuously adding new ones for the past two-three years to attract tourists. The outbound cruise segment has seen rapid demand from tourists globally over the past two-three years, following which Resorts World One will launch from Dubai on November 1. Michael Gohe, president of Resorts World Cruises, pointed out that there is a rapid craze in this segment in the UAE-European countries. They further stated that it will open up new opportunities for the Gulf as a premier cruise region. Inbound and outbound travel is being boosted for the cruise tourism sector. About India, he mentioned that more than 40 percent share is seen from Gujarat in this segment from India. Gujarat is becoming an important medium in this segment. Oman's Khalid Al Azri mentioned that Oman's Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is working with its key partners to ensure the experience and hospitality for Resorts World Cruises at Khasab and Sultan Qaboos ports from November 2024 to April 2025. MoUs were also signed by Resorts World Cruises and DP World. 1.36 crore more jobs in industries compared to 2019
