Paris Paralympics: 24 medals in India's joli: 4 moons in half an hour at midnight; Dharambir won gold in club throw, Harwinder Singh in archery

India won its 24th medal at the Paris Paralympics on Wednesday night. Dharambir Singh won the gold medal and Pranav Surma won the silver medal in the final match of club throw which lasted till 2 o'clock. Earlier, archer Harvinder Singh won gold and shot putter Sachin Sarjerav won silver. Indian athletes won 2 gold and 2 silver medals on the 7th day of the Games. With this, India's total number of medals in the Paris Games has gone up to 24. Which includes 5 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze. India is currently ranked 13th in the medal tally. This is the best performance by Indian Para athletes in Paralympic history. India won 19 medals in Tokyo Games. India win gold and silver in club throw, but miss out on clean sweep India won gold and silver medals in the club throw event in the Men's F-51 category. Still missed the clean sweep. Later in the night, Dharambir Singh won the gold medal with a best throw of 34.92 meters and Pranav Surma won the silver medal with a best throw of 34.59 meters. Jeliko Dimitrijevic of Serbia won the bronze medal with a best throw of 34.18 meters. India could have won all three medals with a clean sweep in the club throws event, but Amit Kumar fouled 4 throws in 6 attempts. Two of his throws were true, with Best only able to go 23.96 metres. Due to which Amit remained at number 10. The F-51 category includes athletes with missing limbs, leg length differences, reduced muscle strength, or reduced range of motion. Harwinder becomes first Indian to win gold in archery Harwinder Singh became the first Indian to win a gold medal in archery at the Paralympic Games. Harvinder was ranked 9th in the ranking round of Men's Individual Recurve Open. In the round of 32, he defeated Chinese Taipei's Lung-Hui Tseng 7-3. Harvinder defeated Setiawan 6-2 in the pre-quarter finals. Harvinder won 6-2 against Colombia's Julio Hector Ramirez in the quarterfinals. In the semi-final, Harvinder defeated Iran's Mohammad Reza 7-3. He then defeated Poland's Lukasz Cizek 6–0 in the final to win the gold medal. PM Narendra Modi congratulated Harvinder on X. He wrote – 'Special Gold in Para Archery. Congratulations to Harvinder Singh for winning gold in the Men's Individual Recurve Open. His focus, target and spirit were superb. India is very happy with your victory. Simran made it to the semi-finals In the women's T-12 category, India's Simran has made it to the semi-finals of the 100m race. He finished first in Heat-1 of Round-1 with a time of 12.17 seconds. Simran's semi-final will be played tomorrow at 3.21 pm. Sachin won first medal today Sachin Sarjerav won first medal in shot put on day 7 of Paralympics. He won the silver medal in the men's F-46 category with an Asian record of 16.32. The F46 category is for athletes who have arm weakness, weak muscles or lack of movement in their arms. Kamal: 4 chandrakas in half an hour at midnight Indian athletes won a total of 5 chandrakas on the eighth day of the Paralympic Games on Tuesday. All these are found in athletics. 4 of them were won within half an hour after midnight. Highlights of Day 6… Misses out on Javelin Gold In Men's F-46 category, India's Sundar Singh Gurjar has set a world record of 68.60m javelin throw. He could only throw the javelin 64.96 meters, which earned him a bronze medal. While Ajit Singh won the silver by throwing 65.62 meters javelin. Cuba's Guillermo Gonzalez won the gold medal with a throw of 66.14 meters in the second attempt. India's Rinku finished fifth in her last attempt with a boost throw of 61.58m. The F-46 category includes athletes who do not have one arm or whose one arm does not work. 2 medals won in high jump Sharad Kumar won silver medal in high jump of T-42 and 63 categories with a leap of 1.88 m. While Mariyappan Thangavelu secured the third position with a jump of 1.85 meters. America's Ezra Frech jumped 1.94 meters and stood first. India's Shailesh Kumar finished fourth in the event with a best leap of 1.85m. All three athletes from India belong to the T-42 category. This includes athletes who have a broken leg or who have trouble walking or running on one leg. Dipti Jeevanji gets bronze medal Dipti Jeevanjee won the bronze medal in the 400m race in the women's T-20 category. He finished the race in 55.82 seconds. Ukraine's Yulia Shulyar won gold with a time of 55.16 seconds. While Turkey's Essel Onder finished the race in 55.23 seconds and won the silver medal. Deepti became only the second athlete from India to win a medal in a track event at the Paralympic Games. Earlier, Preeti Pal had won 2 bronze medals in T-35 category 100m and 200m races in the same Paralympics. Today Avni Lekha missed out on winning a medal in 50m shooting.
