Paris Paralympics: India wins 20th medal: 2 silver and 2 bronze in javelin throw and high jump on day six; Deepti also won bronze

India has won 20 medals in Paris Paralympics. Got 5 medals late night on sixth day. Deepti Jeevanji won bronze in women's 400m for the first time. Ajit Singh won the silver medal and Sundar Singh Gurjar won the bronze medal in the men's F-46 category javelin throw event. In the men's T-42 category high jump event, Sharad Kumar won the silver medal and Mariyappan Thangavelu won the bronze medal. America's Ezra Frech won the gold medal in the high jump and Cuba's Guillermo Gonzalez won the gold medal in the javelin throw. India's Shailesh Kumar finished fourth in high jump while Rinku finished fifth in javelin throw. India has won 3 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze medals so far. The country won 8 medals yesterday, while today it has won 5 medals, all five were in athletics. India is currently ranked 17th with 20 medals. China ranks first, Britain second and America third. India's Sundar Singh Gurjar has set a world record throw of 68.60 meters in the men's F-46 category, missing out on gold in the javelin throw. He could only throw the javelin 64.96 meters, which earned him a bronze medal. While Ajit Singh won the silver by throwing 65.62 meters javelin. Cuba's Guillermo Gonzalez won the gold medal with a throw of 66.14 meters in the second attempt. India's Rinku finished fifth with a best throw of 61.58 meters in the last attempt. The F-46 category includes athletes who do not have one arm or whose one arm does not work. 2 medals won in high jump Sharad Kumar won silver medal in T-42 and 63 category high jump with a leap of 1.88 m. While Mariyappan Thangavelu secured the third position with a jump of 1.85 meters. America's Ezra Frech jumped 1.94 meters and stood first. Shailesh Kumar of India finished fourth in the event with a best jump of 1.85m. All three athletes from India belong to the T-42 category. This includes athletes who have a broken leg or who have trouble walking or running on one leg. Dipti Jeevanji gets bronze medal Dipti Jeevanji won bronze medal in 400m race in women's T-20 category. He finished the race in 55.82 seconds. Ukraine's Yulia Shulyar won gold with a time of 55.16 seconds. While Turkey's Essel Onder finished the race in 55.23 seconds and won the silver medal. Deepti became only the second athlete from India to win a medal in a track event at the Paralympic Games. Before that, Preeti Pal had won 2 bronze medals in T-35 category 100m and 200m races in the same Paralympics. Today Avni Lekha missed out on winning a medal in 50m shooting. Pooja loses in archery semi-finals India's Pooja did not make it to the semi-finals in the women's individual recurve archery event. After winning the first 2 sets of 5 sets, Pooja was defeated by Archer from China in the last three sets. Chunyan Wu won the quarterfinals by a 6–4 margin and advanced to the semifinals. Before Pooja, Avni Lekhara finished 5th in the final of 50m rifle shooting. 2 golds on day 5 Sumit Antilla bagged India's second gold on day 5 in javelin throw at the Paris Paralympics. He won gold with a Paralympic record throw of 70.59m. Before him, Nitish Kumar won gold in badminton. India won 5 medals in Badminton Suhas Yathiraj won silver after Nitish Kumar won gold in para badminton. While in the women's competition, Tulasimathi Murugesan won the silver medal and Manisha Ramdos won the bronze medal. In the bronze medal match held late night, Nitya Sri Sivan won the bronze medal in the SH6 category. Nitya defeated Indonesia's Rina Marlina 21-14, 21-6. The SH6 category is for athletes who are short in stature and can compete standing. Earlier, Yogesh Kathunia won the silver medal in the discus throw while the pair of Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi won the bronze in archery. Sumit wins gold again Sumit Antil, who won gold in javelin throw at the Tokyo Paralympics, also won a gold medal in Paris. He broke his own record at the Paralympics and threw a distance of 70.59 meters in his second attempt. He threw 68.55 meters in Tokyo. He crossed this mark in his first attempt with a throw of 69.11 meters. Sumit's second attempt was enough to win the gold medal. In javelin throw, India's Sandeep finished fourth with a throw of 62.80m and Sanjay Sargar seventh with a best throw of 58.03m. Sri Lanka's Dulan Kodithuvaku got the silver medal and Australia's Michael Berrien got the bronze medal. Sumit won gold in the F64 category. This category includes athletes who have one leg shorter than the other. Due to which they have difficulty in walking and running. Archery Mixed Team Wins Bronze Medal The mixed doubles pair of Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi won the bronze medal in Para Archery. Both defeated the Italian pair by a close margin of 156-155. Rakesh and Sheetal got their first medal in this Paralympics. Both missed out on medals in their respective individual events. Deepti reaches finals of women's 400m Deepti Jeevanji has made it to the finals of the women's 400m T-20 category. He finished first in the first race of Round-1 with a time of 55.45 seconds. However, Essel Onder of Turkey qualified in the second race with a time of 54.96 seconds. Along with this, he also set a Paralympic and world record. Deepti held the 400m world record in the T-20 category. On May 20 this year, he set a world record by finishing the race in 55.07 seconds. The 400m final will be played on September 3 at 10:30 pm. Suhas Yathiraj gets silver medal India's Suhas Yathiraj lost in the finals in the SL4 category, leaving him to settle for a silver medal. He defeated France's Lucas Mazur 21-9, 21-13. Yatiraj defeated India's Sukanth Kadam in the semi-finals to enter the final. Sukanth lost 21-17, 21-18 to Indonesia's Freddy Setiawan in the bronze medal match. The SL4 category includes athletes who have difficulty walking on one or both legs. Rakesh and Sheetal lose in archery semi-final India has faced defeat in archery semi-final. The world number 1 mixed doubles pair of Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi were defeated by the Iranian duo. After 4 ends the score was tied at 152-152. In the tie-breaker, both teams scored 20 points each, but the Iranian archer won because his shot was closer to 10 points. Murugesan lost the match in straight games In the women's SU5 category, Murugesan from Tulasimha, India faced China's Quix Yang in the final. Yang won the first game 21-17. In the second game as well, Yang pressed to take an 11-5 lead and won the game 21-10 to win the gold medal. Murugesan had to settle for silver. On the other hand, India's Manisha Ramdoss won the bronze medal in the SU5 category. She defeated Kathryn Rosengren of Denmark in straight games by a margin of 21-12, 21-8 to win the bronze medal. The SU5 category includes athletes with hand defects. That is, players who have problems with their playing hand or other hand. He won the match in 3 games against Daniel Bethel of Great Britain. Nitish won the first game 21-14, while Bethel won the second game 18-21. The match was tied 21-21 in the third game, where Nitesh took 2 consecutive points to win the gold. Before Nitesh, Avni Lekhara won gold in shooting. Nitesh plays in SL3 category. This category includes athletes who have difficulty walking. i.e. those whose one or both legs are not normal.
