Maruti Suzuki sold 1.82 lakh vehicles in August: 4% less than last year, Tata Motors' sales also decreased by 8%

Automobile company Maruti Suzuki has sold a record 1,81,782 vehicles in August 2024. However, it has decreased by 4% as compared to last year. The company sold 1,89,082 vehicles in August 2023. Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold 1,43,075 vehicles in the passenger vehicle segment as compared to 1,56,114 vehicles last year. It has also decreased by 8% on an annual basis. Recently, many companies of the country had increased the prices of vehicles by 3%. Tata Motors' vehicle sales decreased by 8%, while Tata Motors sold 71,693 vehicles in the wholesale market in August 2024. It has decreased by more than 8% on an annual basis. In August last year, the company sold 78,010 vehicles. In August, Tata Motors sold 70,006 vehicles in the domestic market while 1687 vehicles were sold abroad through export. The company sold 25,864 commercial vehicles in the domestic market during this period, a decrease of 16% compared to last year. The company sold 49,525 vehicles in August 2024, while in the same month last year, Hyundai sold 53,830 vehicles. Vijay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, MM Limited, said, “With Thar Rocks, we are working towards making the Thar franchise the number 1 SUV franchise by volume within the next 3 to 5 years.” Toyota Kirloskar's sales increased by 35% Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has sold 30,879 vehicles. It has increased by 35% on an annual basis. According to Sabari Manohar K, Vice President, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, SUVs and MPVs are contributing significantly to the company's total sales. Manohar said, 'Interestingly, this trend is not limited to big cities only, but also extends to tier-2 and tier-3 markets.'
