Paris Paralympics, Avni-Siddharth out of qualification round: Manisha Ramdas reaches semifinals in badminton, bronze medalist Preity Pal to be in action

India got off to a poor start on day four of the Paris Paralympics. Avni Lekhara and Siddharth Babu were eliminated from the qualification round in the 10m mixed air rifle. Avni is 11th with 632.8 and Siddharth is 28th with 628.3. Avni won the gold medal in women's 10m air pistol two days ago. In Para Badminton, India's Manisha Ramdas put in a brilliant performance and defeated Japan's Mamiko Toyoda 21-13 and 21-16. With this, he has confirmed his place in the semi-finals. Today, racer Preeti Pal will compete in the women's 200m event. Preeti won a bronze medal in the women's 100m event. India's Sukanth Kadam will play compatriot Suhas LY in the semi-finals of Para Badminton. After this match in the men's singles SL-4 semi-finals, one more medal will be assured for India. Highlights of day three… Rubina wins bronze Para shooter Rubina Francis won a bronze medal at the Paris Paralympics on Saturday. She won the medal in SH1 category of women's 10m air pistol. Rubina scored 211.1 in the final. India has so far won 5 medals in the Paris Paralympics. While Praveen Kumar missed out on winning a medal in javelin throw. Praveen stood 8th in the final. In badminton, Sukanth Kadam beat Thailand's Siripong Timarom 21-12, 21-12 in 25 minutes in the men's singles SL4 group play stage. With their second straight win in the group, Kadam have secured their place in the semi-finals. Earlier on Friday, India had won 4 medals. In women's shooting, Avani Lekhara won gold and Mona Aggarwal won bronze. Manish Narwal won silver in men's 10m air pistol shooting. Preity Pal won the bronze medal in the women's 100m T35 category race. Para Archery: Sarita Kumari out after quarter-final defeat Sarita Kumari was eliminated after losing in the quarter-final of the women's individual compound. He was defeated 145-140 by Turkey's Oznur Kur Girdi in the quarter finals. Para Archery: Sheetal Devi loses in pre-quarterfinals Sheetal Devi was eliminated in the Women's Individual Compound Open 1/8 elimination round by losing to Chile's Mariana Zuniga 137-138. 17-year-old Sheetal lost the match by just one point. Para badminton: Mandeep reaches quarter-finals Para shuttler Mandeep Kaur opened day three of the Paris Paralympic Games with a win. She defeated Australia's Celine Vinot 21-23, 21-10, 21-17 in the SL3 category of badminton women's singles. With this, Mandeep reached the quarter finals. The SL3 category in badminton includes players whose lower limbs are affected by a disability. Para Badminton: Nitesh Kumar wins in straight games Nitesh Kumar defeated Thailand's Mongkhon Bunsen in straight games 21-13, 21-14 in the Badminton men's singles SL3 category group stage match. He won this match in 33 minutes. Para shooting: Swaroop Mahaveer misses final spot Swaroop Mahaveer Unhalkar finished 14th in men's 10m air rifle standing SH1 qualification round. He scored 613.4 in the qualification round. Because of this, he missed out on reaching the finals. Para cycling track: Jyoti-Arshad fail to enter finals Jyoti Gaderia failed to qualify for the finals of the para cycling C1-3 500m time trial. She finished 11th in the qualifying round. The top 6 riders in this category qualified for the finals. Arshad Shaikh finished 17th in the men's C1-3 1000m time trial qualifying and failed to make the final.
