Sophie Devine to step down from T20 captaincy after Women's World Cup: Decision taken to manage workload, will continue ODI captaincy

New Zealand's current captain Sophie Devine will step down from the T20 captaincy of the team after the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the UAE. He took this decision to manage his workload. However, he has made it clear that he will continue to captain the ODI team. Devine, who will give up the captaincy to manage the workload, said, 'I am very proud to captain the team in both formats. Captaincy also comes with additional workload. Which I love, but it can also be challenging at times. So stepping down from the T20 captaincy will reduce my workload and allow me to focus my energy on playing and grooming future leaders.' Devine will continue to lead the ODI team Devine said, 'I am not ready to give up the ODI captaincy yet. But I won't be captain forever. So, I think it would be good for the next captain to leave the captaincy one format at a time.'
