Apple's contract manufacturers Foxconn, Wistron (now Tata Electronics) and Pegatron have already given direct jobs to 80,872 people in India. Apart from this, suppliers like Tata Group, Salcomp, Madrasan, Foxlink (Tamil Nadu), Sunwoda (Uttar Pradesh), ATL (Haryana) and Jabil (Maharashtra) have together created about 84,000 direct jobs. Vendors and suppliers have created 1.65 lakh jobs since 2020 Since the smartphone PLI (Production Linked Initiative Scheme) in 2020, Apple's vendors-suppliers have created 1.65 lakh direct jobs in India. Apple is continuously increasing its production capacity in India. The government estimates that every direct job in the electronics industry creates three additional jobs. This means that the Apple ecosystem could generate 5 to 6 lakh jobs by the end of March. iPhones worth ₹1.20 lakh crore being manufactured in India since 2017 Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India with the iPhone SE in 2017. It has three Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) partners – Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron. After the iPhone SE, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 were also manufactured in India. Foxconn's plant is in Sriperumbudur near Chennai. Apple is part of the Government of India's PLI scheme. All three contract manufacturers of Apple (Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron) are part of the Government of India's Rs 41,000 crore Production-Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI).
