After the rape-murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, a case of rape of a nursing college student has come to light in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The incident took place on Monday (August 26). The victim had returned to Ratnagiri from her home in Devrukh. Auto driver raped her while going to college from bus stand. SP Jayashree Gaekwad said that the age of the victim is 19 years. She is a resident of Devrukh. She was sitting in an auto rickshaw from the bus stand to go to college on the morning of August 26. Meanwhile, the driver gave him water to drink. She became unconscious after drinking water. The victim was in the forest when she regained consciousness. His clothes were torn. There were injury marks on the hands. On learning of the rape, she rushed to the hospital, where the police were informed. The police have registered a case against the unidentified auto driver. The student said- All my belongings were scattered in the forest.According to the police, the nursing student said that she had a holiday on Sunday (August 25). So she went to her house in Devrukh. As usual, she reached Ratnagiri from Devrukh by a 6 am bus on Monday (August 26). She got down at Ratnagiri's Salvi stop around seven in the morning. From there took auto rickshaw to go to college. On the way, the auto driver gave her water, after which she fainted. When he regained consciousness, he found all his belongings scattered in the forest. Clothes are torn. He called his sister and reported the incident. The victim somehow reached the main road through the forest. There, after seeking help from a biker, she reached her flat, from where she was taken to the hospital. SP Jayashree Gaekwad went to the hospital and met the victim and registered a case. Police are trying to collect CCTV and other evidence. Investigation of the case is ongoing. The accused is still absconding.
